Hairdressing and Dreadlocks Services
Dreadlocks
Creation – dreadlocking your natural hair using the crochet hook method. Painkillers recommended for those with sensitive scalps or new to dreadlocks. No chemicals, ever – only a crochet hook and lots of skill.
Maintenance – using a crochet hook to tighten roots and clean up flyaway hair. Keep your dreads looking amazing as they mature!
Reconstruction – This service is for dreadlocks that haven’t had maintenance for a year or more and involves maintaining the dreads from root to tip to make them look fresh and new.
Extensions – extending your natural hair with synthetic, wool, or human hair dreadlocks. Not enough of your own hair to dread – not a problem!
Hair Colour
I offer bleaching, colouring, and colour correction of hair, dreadlocks or not. All bleach used on dreadlocks is low in ammonia and all colours used are cruelty free or vegan. Haircuts included if requested – a true full hairdressing package.
Frequently Asked Questions
Most frequent questions and answers
How long does my hair need to be to get dreadlocks?
Answer: I recommend your hair being at least 10cm in length to get them started. If you are wanting to add more length to them, the option of adding extensions is also possible. If you are unsure on whether your hair is long enough, you can either email or text me a couple of photos of your hair currently and I will let you know!
How often should I be maintaining my dreadlocks?
Answer: If you have just had new dreadies created, I recommend having maintenance done every 2-3 months for the first year and once your dreadies have started to mature then you can always play it by personal preference as there is never really any set time for most people.
Can I colour my dreadlocks?
Answer: Yes you can! I also specialise in colouring hair and dreadlocks so if you would like to add a pop of colour to your dreads then let me know your ideas! I only use low ammonia bleach and cruelty free hair colours.
How often should I be washing my dreadlocks?
Answer: Any time after having dreadlocks created or fresh maintenance done on your dreadlocks, I recommend waiting at least 2 weeks to wash them so that the maintenance has a chance to settle in and you aren’t then undoing all the clean work that has been done. After that initial wash, you can then wash them once a week at the very most so that they stay as neat as possible up until I see you for your next maintenance session!
